NUTRITION

Sports nutrition is a huge part of each driver development programme at Pro Performance. We structure effective and practical nutritional interventions into a driver’s everyday life, before and after training, and at the race circuit.

All nutritional intervention plans are overseen by our own Sports Nutritionist Alex Carlow. Alex has been working at Pro Performance for many years and has a comprehensive understanding of the nutritional requirements in motorsport.

So, how can good sports nutrition improve your performance on the track?

Promote weight loss / weight gain

Promote weight loss / weight gain

Racing drivers come in all different shapes and sizes, and for some there is a need to either lose weight or gain weight to be the optimal body mass for the car set-up. This is especially important in Formula One, GP2 and WSR, so managing weight at an early stage of a driver’s career can make life much easier later on. We can structure programmes that allow for these adaptations, without compromising strength, fatigue and performance.

Improving Hydration = Improving Mental and Physical Performance

Improving Hydration = Improving Mental and Physical Performance

At Pro Performance we are able to accurately measure hydration and calculate how much fluid a driver should be consuming every day. Any hydration measurement below 60% indicates a level of dehydration. Improving hydration by only a small amount can reflect big gains in cognitive (mental) function and delaying physical fatigue.

Good Race day planning leads to more energy in the car

The correct timing of meals, and making healthy choices over a race weekend should allow the driver to feel fresh and energised at exactly the right time. Getting this wrong can lead to feelings of lethargy and bloating during track sessions.

Enhance the effectiveness of Training and Recovery

Enhance the effectiveness of Training and Recovery

We advise our drivers on the correct use of supplement, how to supply their body with the right type of fuel for a work-out, how to recover and aid muscle development, and how to stay hydrated during training.

To get started on a Pro Performance nutrition programme, we recommend a full evaluation with Alex, from which he is able to construct a detailed and driver-specific plan-of-action to be usedin around training and at the circuit.
